The Ord River is one of the most stunning river systems in Australia. It has a catchment area of some 64,000 km² and is approximately 650 km long. It flows via Lake Argyle and the Kununurra Diversion Dam (Lake Kununurra) on route to the Cambridge Gulf near Wyndham.
Lake Argyle, south east of Kununurra, is a giant freshwater inland sea some 800 square kilometres in area and is the largest body of fresh water in Australia. It reportedly holds over 50 times the volume of water in Sydney Harbour. Formed by the damming of the Ord River in 1972 Lake Argyle is rich in native flora and fauna and wildlife.
You will enjoy a ground tour of Lake Argyle, including viewing the lake from a scenic lookout and a visit to the historic Durack Homestead. Tour highlights include spectacular scenery, crocodiles, flying foxes, prolific birdlife, and informative commentary.
Includes: smorgasbord luncheon served on the banks of the Ord River.
You will be picked up at 09:00 from your accommodation and return at approximately 15:30.
