Bamurru Plains Wild Bush Luxury - NT

Description:
Safari Bungalow Ultimate Wilderness Experience
Itinerary:
Minimum 2 night stay
Dates:
1 May to 31 October 2018

Built on stilts overlooking the wetland, Bamurru Plains offers one of Australia’s richest wildlife experiences. An exclusive experience on a 300 km² private property on the edge of Kakadu National Park.

Safari suites are raised on stilts overlooking the floodplain with mesh screen ceiling to floor walls on 3 sides around the bed, providing guests with an experience in which they can hear, see and almost touch the wildlife and wilderness around them. The décor reflects the region's earlier indigenous, hunting and pastoral history, with buffalo horns, explorer's maps, Aboriginal art work and fish traps as well as old photos providing guests with a sense of the human heritage of the area. The focus is on a supremely comfortable bed (500 thread count organic cotton linen, pillow menu), spacious en suite bathroom with high pressure showers. Each room has a cold water thermos, local flora and fauna reading materials, species lists and binoculars. The alarm clock in the morning is the call of Magpie Geese and Whistling Kites and the orange light of dawn spreading across the floodplain, all audible and visible without having to leave your bed.

Facilities:  The main lodge building is the social hub, providing a reference library, open bar, wet edge pool and wildlife observation deck. Dinner and stories are shared around the camp table and are hosted by the camp manager or one of the safari guides in front of an open kitchen, where guests can see the resident chef create superb native Australian-inspired dishes such as barramundi chowder and mud crab ravioli or duck confit with bush spices.

Bamurru’s expert field guides take guests on exhilarating rides on airboats across the floodplains, crocodile spotting river cruises and immersive open-top 4WD safari drives. Optional trips are available to the rock art galleries of Kakadu and Arnhem Land.

Just 3 hours' drive from Darwin.
