After the stress of planning and build-up to your wedding day, and the big day has come and gone, you are looking forward to finally having some time to unwind and relax on your honeymoon.

These days’ couples planning a honeymoon have so much choice at their fingertips.  With exotic locations such as France, Italy, Hawaii, Maldives, Japan, Vanuatu, the list goes on! But where to go? You need to ask; do you want to spend your days mixing with hundreds, if not thousands, of other tourists? Or do you wish to be as far away from the crowds as possible?

If you are yearning for a different honeymoon added with some soft adventure, then honeymooning in the Kimberley region of Western Australia can provide just that. The Kimberley is 423,000 square kilometres and is twice the size of the state of Victoria and three times the size of England. With just 50,000 residents, much of the landscape is uninhabited.

Broome

Kick off your honeymoon by spending a few days taking it easy in a holiday resort in Australia’s North West town of Broome.

Located on the far north-west coast of Australia – where the desert meets the sea and with the Indian Ocean lapping on the shores of the 22kms long Cable Beach, enjoy romantic strolls at sunset.

Cruise the waters of Cable Beach under the sails of a pearl lugger whilst you sip on some champagne and toast your new life together.

Get to know the hidden history of Broome on a small group,  guided walking tour of historic Chinatown, which includes stops at some of Broome’s small bars.

Take in a pearl farm tour and perhaps purchase some pearl jewellery direct from the producer, that could become a family heirloom.

Gibb River Road

The next part of your itinerary is spent on a private, guided tour of the famous Gibb River Road.  Imagine - just the two of you and your personal guide in a luxury 4WD vehicle!

The Gibb River Road is a 670kms adventure road that is on the travel bucket list of many four wheel drivers. Being mostly gravel and with countless creek and river crossings, the road winds its way from Derby to Kununurra through some of Australia’s most rugged, remote and stunning scenery. View soaring cliffs and broad landscape vistas. Visit numerous gorges offering waterfalls and dip into refreshing swimming holes. Your experienced and knowledgeable guide will lead the way and you will not miss a thing.

Stay in comfortable accommodation along the Gibb River Road before arriving in the east Kimberley town of Kununurra, on the shores of the Ord River.

Kununurra

At Kununurra you will part ways with your tour guide and spend a few days exploring a few more of the Kimberley’s iconic landscapes– including the World-Heritage-Listed Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles) and the enormous Lake Argyle and the gorges of the Ord River.

You could add a couple of night’s stay at the famous El Questro Homestead, or after your road travels, spend a few peaceful days of your honeymoon at the remote Faraway Bay resort.

If you want something a little different for your honeymoon, then the Kimberley is the destination. And your social media friends will be envious of the selfies you post!
