Cane Toads

Cane toads were introduced to Queensland in 1935 and are now major environmental pests in Western Australia, significantly impacting on our biodiversity and ecosystems.

Cane toads are great stowaways and can be easily transported in your vehicle and luggage.  When you are packing up your camping gear, caravan and car in an area where cane toads are present, it is important to ensure that you are not accidently carrying cane toads into an area where they are not present.

Click here to find out more from the Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife about how to identify cane toads from native frogs and toads and other measures to help in slowing the spread of the toads.  You can even download an app to help you identify these pests, which we consider is a great idea if you are travelling Australia.
