It pays to book ahead

While you are planning your travels in the Kimberley in 2015, we recommend that you book tours ahead rather than wait until you arrive at your destination.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  If you are travelling and have limited time to spend in a destination, you may well be disappointed that the tour you wish to experience is fully booked when you get there and you miss out - and from our experience this does happen when we try to get seats on tours where passengers have left it till the 'last minute'.  By booking early, it assists the \tour operators in planning their operations, staffing levels and departures during the busy tourist months - particularly between May - August/early September.

Updating 2015 information on our website

Best Of The Kimberley is currently updating tours, accommodation and self drive package rates and information for 2015.  There is a lot of work to be done and it will take us some weeks to do. 

Some Kimberley tour operators are still operating over the wet season!

With the heat and humidity increasing in the central and east Kimberley, some tour operators are preparing to close their operations for the season.  But not all tour operators shut down over the coming wet season months!  If you find a tour listed on our website that is of interest to you, please enquire as to the availability between the end of October and early April, as some operators still offer their tours on a reduced frequency.

Staircase to the Moon - 2015 dates & times

From March to October/November you can witness a breathtaking natural phenomenon known as the Gold Staircase to the Moon.  It is caused by the rising of the full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide - creating a beautiful optical illusion of stairs reaching to the moon.

Broome joins Pharrell Williams' Happy video project

To date, more than 150 countries have made almost 2,000 videos of people singing along to Pharrell Williams' song Happy for a project called We Are Happy.  Broome has now joined that group,  How can you not be happy in Broome with all that sunshine and blue sky?

Many tour operators are finalising their tours for 2015.  It does take some time for us to input the details into our website but if you see a tour that is of interest to you for 2015, please enquire, as we may have the details on our desk but not on the website!  We will be updating regularly over the coming months as the information comes to hand.
