Explore the remote Mitchell Plateau flying over El Questro Wilderness & Drysdale River National Parks before landing at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip. Connect with a helicopter for a flight over the spectacular Mitchell Falls before we land there to drop you off. At the Falls, you will spend some time on the ground on your own where you can take a self-guided walk (Unmarked Route up to “Class 6” level of difficulty of Australian Standard AS 2156.1-2001 – “Walk Trails” – refer to our Conditions), swim and enjoy a pre-packed morning tea. Plenty of time to photograph the spectacular surroundings, before being picked up by a helicopter and returned to the Mitchell Plateau airstrip. Re-board the aeroplane for views of Port Warrender, Kalumburu, King George Falls, Berkeley River Gorge, Cambridge Gulf and Adolphus Island before landing in Kununurra.

Kimberley Panorama with Kalumburu & Drysdale Station

The only way to see the remote northern coastline of Western Australia is by air. Your route to Kalumburu Aboriginal Community and the Mitchell Plateau takes you over tidal mud flats, mangrove systems, waterfalls and deep gorges. Spot crocodiles, manta rays, dugong and other sea creatures. The flight path takes in the Ord River Irrigation Area, Lower Ord River, Carlton Hill & Ivanhoe Stations, Wyndham, Cambridge Gulf and Adolphus Island before reaching the coast. Fly over the Berkeley River Gorge, King George Falls, up to Kalumburu where you will land to walk into the Community and the Mission. The museum here contains World War 2 artifacts and some very interesting pieces of history. Have morning tea at the mission before departure to the Mitchell Falls.

Sweeping orbits of the Mitchell Falls before stopping for lunch at Drysdale River Station – try a real Kimberley beef burger! Return via El Questro, Emma Gorge with memorable views of the setting sun on the western walls of the Cockburn Range.

Mitchell Falls Cultural Experience – Plane/4WD Combo With Overnight Stay

A one day, one night tour to the Mitchell Falls and the fascinating Mitchell Plateau. This tour departs from Kununurra by light aircraft after an early morning pickup from your accommodation. Arriving at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip, we are met by our guide and taken to the Ungolan Safari Camp for breakfast. Depart from Ungolan by 4WD vehicle to the Mitchell Falls, where you will take a guided tour of not only the falls, but also the many Aboriginal art sites that are located within the area. After lunch at the Falls and a refreshing swim, you will then have the opportunity to either walking out of the falls or taking one of the spectacular helicopter flights that are available. Overnight accommodation is at the Ungolan Safari Camp adjacent to the Kandiwal Aboriginal Community. The following morning, you will embark on an 8.00am flight to Kununurra, arriving at approximately 9.30am.




Baggage: Strictly 1 x 10kg softpack bag per person. Be sure to take comfortable clothing, walking shoes, bathers, hat. Package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Please note: this tour is operated on small group size with Aboriginal guides accompanying the tour whenever possible).

Kimberley Coastal Adventure Flight & Home Valley Tour

From Kununurra your flight will follow the Ord River downstream, flying over the Ord Irrigation Area and do some croc spotting and then onto House Roof Hill, the location site of the Faraway Downs homestead used in the film 'Australia'.

Track north to the 'Needles', mini Bungle-like formations at Cape Domett, and on the way we will fly over the incredible mangrove colonies of the Ord river 'false mouths'. At Cape Domett we will fly along the beach that is the birth location of thousands of north Kimberley Flatback turtles annually. We then cross the Cambridge Gulf, Lacrosse Island and follow the edge of the Timor Sea to the mighty King George River. We fly from the sea up the 12km gorge to orbit the King George Falls, then track back to the east and the Berkley River, following one pristine waterhole after another inland. View Oombulgurri Community on the Forrest River and the winding path of the Durack River before landing at Home Valley Station for an 'HV8' Station Tour which includes some locations from the film Australia and gives you an overview of the Station and its Tourism, Cattle and Training facilities. Lunch is at the Dusty Bar & Grill and you can cool off with a swim in the resort pool. After lunch the flight takes in the western escarpment of the Cockburn Range, El Questro Station’s Homestead and the Kununurra Diversion Dam.
